The right timing?!
By: Salem Washeely
I went through the interesting theory of Clayton Christensen on disruption and it really explained to me something that I always hear as being one of the primary reasons for startup success which is the “right timing”. I always wondered who could ever spot the right time to start his/her startup unless by coincidence or luck. This theory on disruption really made sense to me and made it obvious how to be successful in disrupting an existing market. A successful entrepreneur targeting a market served with an over efficient product sees the market competing on products features and how to enhance its functionalities that consumers do not need any more or do not help in getting the real job done and come in with his disruptive product to serve unserved or underserved customers in a way to get their job done.
This theory to me explained part of the dilemma i had on how to start a startup in the right time to realize the success you are dreaming of. Christensen theory has many modules and I believe these modules in total explain a lot about disruption.
I advise entrepreneurs to have a look here at this theory on innovation & disruption and try to apply it to their case.
